Pinnacle Dessert, WA
Here's some shots from my day trip up to the Pinnacle Desert

The rocks that make up the Pinnacles are actually petrified trees and bushes formed by calcium rich sand dunes being rained on and having the calcium rich water trickle down to the covered trees and bushes and slowly petrified over time. Super cool to be able to walk around and see the root systems and some back texturing within the pinnacles.
It was a really great day that included visiting Caversham wildlife Park and Sand boarding in the Dunes just outside of Lancelin
Point Peron, WA
We went on a lovely walk around Point Peron, which used to be a military installation during the second world war with the purpose of coastal defense. It's now a parkland with lush trees and beautiful coastlines.
The standing rock in the water featured in most photos is called Mushroom Rock, located just offshore from Point Peron.
Freemantle, WA
Shots of Fremantle in the evening from my recent trip to Western Australia. Fremantle is the port city for Perth, it has a mix of architecture from Australia's colonial past to modern 21st Century buildings. We had a great time spending the evening walking around, going through the Fremantle Market and down to the waterfront to one of the many local breweries.

I rarely do photography at night so it was fun to walk around finding light, I had my diffusion filter on my lens all evening getting nice soft glows from the lights while we walked around. I really liked the scalloped awning of this building with the warm lights underneath. These photos gave me the opportunity to be more adventurous with my edits than I normally am, pulling and emphasising the colours that are already in the shot to pop more in the darkness.

Port Coquitlam Car Show
A few weeks ago, my dad and I visited the Poco Car Show. The show is full of classic cars looking their best, shining in the summer light. It happened to be one of the first days when smoke from the interior had hit the lower mainland and created a golden hour effect over the whole day.

We had a great time focusing on details, seeking angles that showed off the forms and intricacies of these classic cars. I personally liked the fins of the red Bel Air's, along with how there was a matching red Coca-Cola cooler in the back of the wagon. Red on Red with the light shining through windows just captured my attention.

Along with the Bel Air, the way the light played off the polished blue Corvette created reflections that showed off the sculpting of its bodywork.

Britannia Ship Yards
Last Saturday I spent another day in Steveston, this time spending the day in the Britannia Shipyards with my parents. It being such a bright sunny day worked great as I got to play with a great amount of light coming through the windows to shoot with, I also finally got to spend time shooting with my polarized filter.
I ended up with a nice variety of shots. Like the Georgia Straight Cannery in Steveston, the Shipyard main building is full of varied rooms for different purposes. Each room is fairly distinct in its interior. There are also a couple of restored period buildings showing the range of living conditions
I really enjoyed this trip, I love spotting little scenes and how light is hitting objects in these museums, very similar to Fort Langley, Georgia Straight Cannery, Burnaby Village and Blist Hills. It's like shooting still life but it's a giant set and I get to go detail huntin

Explorer Still Life
Did a little shoot this week to try out my new lights and get an understanding of using the Godox systems compared to the Profoto I'd been using at Langara, opted for two AD400s as their cost to power makes the most sense to me for the current moment as well as the XPro remote to control them. Giving me essentially the same lighting capabilities as I had at school. (Also I just wanted to take photos).

It was fun going in with really not much of a plan and hunting around my house building up some sort of scene. The Polaroid I got from Beau Photos free bin, and the nat geo box is a digital archive of everything up to and around 2000 I think, It's all on CDs Super excited to do more little shoots to help build out my portfolio as well as starting to reach out to some local places for some collabs.

Burnaby Village Museum
Last week just before New Year's Eve I visited Burnaby Village Museum with my girlfriend and got to wander around the old buildings with some hot chocolate. I got the opportunity to play around with the ISO performance of my camera and spotting little scenes throughout the village. The first image is from the blacksmith shop cause I'll always go visit a blacksmith demo if I can, it's always an area filled with little bits and bobs sprinkled throughout and grabbing shots of the blacksmith working with red hot metal is just fantastic. The second and third images are from the Tom Irvine House which had been set up with such lovely spotlights creating these great little scenes of a table that looks like it's just been left and a kettle warming on the stove with some socks drying by the side. I could have spent at least an hour in there just fine-tuning compositions
Wales Road Trip
Landscapes and Sheep from a Welsh road trip with my girlfriend. Shots from walking down Snowdon on a cloudy day after taking the train up. The beach at Aberystwyth looking towards Constitution Hill which we climbed up and then got stuck in a thunderstorm for 15 minutes. It was a 5-day trip that went from Cardiff, stayed in Porthmadog for four days and spent time at the Mach Loop. Then went through the Snowdonia National Park on the way back.
Goodwood Festival of Speed
Besides photography my other major passion is motorsport. I rarely get to combine the two but last week I got to go to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and see a massive variety of current and classic race cars show off on the Goodwood Hillclimb.  Getting to see Nigel Mansell go up the hill in his Williams FW14B in the afternoon was amazing. Derek Bell actually driving the Porsche 956 at speed was just fantastic. As well as seeing such a wide variety of cars from a McLaren F1 GTR that raced at Le Mans, the F1 Safety Car, a Lancia Delta 037, a old McLaren Can-Am, and the old sharknose Ferrari F1 car from the early 60s. Got to practice shooting at a lower shutter speed and panning along with the cars to get more of the sense of movement in the photos vs freezing them in a moment.
Ironbridge - Blist Hills Victorian Town
My first adventure in England was visiting Ironbridge and the Blist Hills Victorian Town on Friday. Ironbridge was built in 1781 and is the first major bridge in the world to be made out of cast iron. The Blist Hills town showcases multiple aspects of Victorian towns during that era with a section of a town, industrial/ironworks, and the countryside. It was super cool getting to walk through all of these frozen-in-time places and finding bits to take photos of.
